How do you make a file executable in Ubuntu?

An executable file's user rights must be correctly specified in order for it to run.

To achieve this, take the following actions:

Start a terminal.

Navigate to the folder containing the executable file.

Enter the command as follows:

for any . bin file: sudo chmod +x filename.bin

for any .run file: sudo chmod +x filename.run

Enter the necessary password when prompted to do so.

Now the current user with root access can execute the file.

What does sudo ldconfig do in Ubuntu?

In the directories supplied on the command line, in the file /etc/ld.so.conf, and in the trusted directories (/lib and /usr/lib), ldconfig generates the required links and cache to the most recent shared libraries. The run-time linker, http://ld.so or http://ld-linux.so, uses the cache. When selecting which versions of libraries should have their links changed, ldconfig looks at the header and filenames of the libraries it comes across.
