Hi,
I need help as am just a beginner in website development. I publish and update my website through webmatrix, but now it is showing error. I am not getting what could be the possible solution for this. Kindly help me in rectifying the error, its urgent.

The error detail is as follows:
Unable to publish. Timed out while attempting to connect to the remote server. This might mean that the Web Management Service (WMSVC) on the remote server is not started, the server failed to respond, or the connection is blocked by a firewall. Error detail: Could not connect to the destination computer ("win11.hostasp.net"). On the destination computer, make sure that Web Deploy is installed and that the required process ("Web Management Service") is started. Hi, First you would need to FIX the problem connecting through Telnet. Which shows that you still have port block in your network. If your Firewall is setup properly and still if you get the message then Ask your ISP to unblock the port. This port cannot be changed as it is bound to Web Deployment Management Services.

Well I set up new inbound/outbound rules for the microsoft firewall for the port 8172. But am still getting the same telnet result as earlier, and the same error again from Webmatrix.
Can any other port be used instead of 8172..?? If yes, which one..??

Yes, the port is been blocked by your Firewall or ISP. If you have firewall setup in your network then just make sure adding appropriate rule to open port 8172. ( Check outbound rules if it is Microsoft firewall). If there is no Firewall or if firewall is just fine, then you would need call your ISP to open up this port.

I checked for the port opening through cmd by typing in c:/>telnet win11.hostasp.net 8172 and end result stated: "could not open connection to the host, on port 8172: connection failed.

What to do next..?? And how do I open the port 8172..??
    Thanx in advance..

I had verified, the Management services are running in server. Can you please confirm the user credentials are correct, also make sure the port 8172 is open from your end.

To check if port is open at your end. from the command prompt type c:\> telnet win11.hostasp.net 8172 and let me know what you see. (A blank screen?) or it is trying to connect.....
